ARTICLE WRITING ON TRADITION AGAINST MODERNITY/ GENERATION GAP

Tradition against Modernity/ Generation Gap
                                                                                   (By –ABC)
‘Every generation wants regeneration.’
Generation gap refers to the differences in actions, beliefs, interests and opinions that exist between individuals from different generations. In other words we can say that tradition and modernity are two terms used to express a whole range of difference between distant development stages in a society. The young teenagers do not know about the tradition and various customs. They only know about using mobiles, computers and laptops etc. Traditions will always refer to the ways of the past and the modernity to what is happening at the moment or will soon happen. Hence, it is quite natural for elders to lean towards traditions where as young people usually propagate modernity as the better option. The young generation do not spend time with family. In this modern era, the teenagers do not obey the advice given by their elders. In olden days kids used to grow in a joint family system, they were more respectful towards their parents and elder persons in the family. Now, things have changed. We hardly see kids with that kind of lore and affection for other family members. They do not spend time in studies. They wear fashionable dresses, have stylish hairstyles and argue with their parents. Traditional approach represents ethics, religion and widely acceptable behavioural patterns. Young people tend to stray from path, praising the modern, liberal ways above the traditional. We should not forget our tradition and values. My last message to all the teenagers is that tradition and customs are very important in our life. Change is the law of nature but always remember that ‘Old is Gold.’
